Growing it
- TrainingKeep this year's new canes physically separate from the ones carrying fruit — tied to one side, or up through the middle. In autumn the distinction is obvious; by the following spring it is not, and that is when the wrong canes get cut.
- PruningCut fruited canes to the ground after picking and tie in the replacements.
- PropagationBlackberries root from the tip. In late summer bend a healthy cane down, bury the growing tip about 10 cm deep and peg it, and by the following spring it will have made its own root system — then sever it from the parent and lift it.
