  • PruningCut the whole clump to about 10 cm in late February, before new shoots emerge — once they are up you cannot cut without slicing their tips, and the damage shows all season. Leave the dead growth standing over winter rather than tidying it in autumn: it is the plant's entire winter contribution, and it shelters overwintering insects.
