One of the most forgiving root crops: quick, tolerant of ordinary soil, and usable at any size from golf ball upwards. Two things are worth knowing. The leaves are as good as chard and are usually thrown away. And most beetroot 'seed' is a cluster of several seeds, so seedlings come up in bunches and need separating whatever the packet suggests.

Growing it
